Understanding Team Roles in Webflow Enterprise is crucial for assigning the right responsibilities effectively. There are four key roles: Admin, Designer, Editor, and Viewer.
Admins have complete access, managing billing, settings, team members, and all project aspects. They oversee the project and ensure everything runs smoothly.
Designers use the Webflow Designer to change the site design, add or delete pages, and modify global styles. They handle the visual and structural aspects of the project.
Editors focus on content updates, such as changing text and images. They cannot alter design structures, making their role ideal for content managers or marketers.
Viewers have read-only access, unable to make changes but can review the project's progress. This role suits stakeholders who need oversight without editing capabilities.
To manage these roles and permissions, follow these steps:
First, sign into Webflow and go to your project dashboard. Click on the Project Settings for the project you want to manage. Then, find and click on the Team or Team Settings tab to see your current team members and their roles.
To add a team member, click the Invite Team Member button in Team Settings. Enter the email address of the person you’re adding and assign them a role that suits their responsibilities. Send the invite, and they will receive an email with joining instructions.
If you need to change a team member’s role, find their name in the team list, click on Edit Role, select a new role from the dropdown, and confirm the changes. This is helpful when a team member’s tasks evolve.
To remove someone, find their name in Team Settings and click on the option to remove them, confirming your decision. Be careful with this step and notify the member beforehand if possible.
Some best practices for role assignments include regularly reviewing team roles to ensure everyone has the right access as projects progress. Apply the principle of least privilege by assigning the minimum permissions needed for each role to maintain security and project integrity. Educate team members about their roles to ensure clarity and improve teamwork.
By following these steps and adopting best practices, you can manage team roles and permissions effectively, creating a productive and secure environment for your Webflow Enterprise projects.
