January 22, 2024

Step 1: Sign Up for Weglot

Begin by signing up for a Weglot account on their website. Choose a plan that fits your needs, with a free trial available for new users, and create your account. You will then be taken to your dashboard.

Step 2: Set Up Your Project

In the Weglot dashboard, click on "Add a new project." Enter the Domain URL of your Webflow site and select the original language of your website. Next, choose the languages you want your site translated into, according to your target audience.

Step 3: Get Your API Key

After setting up your project, you will be given an API key. This key is crucial for connecting Weglot to your Webflow site, so make sure to copy it for the next step.

Step 4: Open Webflow and Insert the Weglot Code

Log in to your Webflow account and go to the project you wish to translate. Click on the "Settings" icon and navigate to the "Custom Code" tab. In the "Head Code" section, insert the Weglot JavaScript snippet, replacing 'YOUR_API_KEY' with your copied API key.

Step 5: Publish Your Site

Publish your site by clicking the "Publish" button at the top right corner of the Webflow Designer. This step applies the Weglot integration to your live site.

Step 6: Access Weglot Dashboard for Translations

Once your site is live, return to the Weglot dashboard. Weglot will automatically detect your site's content and generate translations. You can view and edit these translations within the Weglot interface.

Step 7: Customize Your Language Switcher

Weglot offers a language switcher that you can customize to match your site’s design. Choose from a dropdown menu, flags, or a combination. Customize it in the Weglot dashboard under the "Appearance" settings.

Step 8: Test Your Multilingual Site

Thoroughly test your site by visiting it and using the language switcher. Ensure it functions correctly and that translations display properly.

Step 9: Monitor and Optimize Translations

Use Weglot's analytics to monitor translation performance. Check user engagement for various languages and make manual edits in the Weglot dashboard as needed to maintain quality standards.

Following these steps will allow you to set up Weglot on your Webflow site, making your content accessible to a global audience. Enjoy the benefits of having a multilingual website and expand your reach effectively.
