To integrate Google Analytics with Webflow in 2024 and track your website's performance, follow these simple steps:
Create a Google Analytics Account
First, ensure you have a Google Analytics account. If not, open your web browser and navigate to the Google Analytics website. Click on the "Start measuring" button and sign in with your Google account. If you don’t have a Google account, you'll need to create one. Once signed in, you'll be on the "Set up your account" page. Fill in the required information, like account name, and choose your data sharing settings. Then click "Next."
Set Up a Property
A property represents your website within your Google Analytics account. After account setup, you’ll need to provide property details, such as your website name, reporting time zone, and currency, then click "Next." Enter your business information, including its category, size, and potential analytics goals. Click "Create" to finish setting up your property.
Get the Tracking ID
Once your property is set up, you'll receive a tracking ID to use in Webflow. On the "Data Streams" page, click "Web" to add a new data stream for your website. Enter your website URL and name your stream. After you click "Create Stream," you'll see your stream details, including your tracking ID labeled "G-XXXXXXXXXX." This code is essential for connecting Google Analytics to Webflow.
Open Your Webflow Project
Log into your Webflow account and select the project you want to integrate with Google Analytics from your dashboard.
Add the Google Analytics Tracking ID
Navigate to "Project Settings" on the left sidebar of your Webflow project. Click on the "Integrations" tab at the top of the settings page. Scroll to the “Google Analytics” section and enter the tracking ID that starts with "G-" in the designated field.
Publish Your Changes
To make sure the integration works, publish your website. Click the "Publish" button located in the top right corner of the screen. Choose the domains you want to publish to, either your custom domain or Webflow’s subdomain, and click "Publish." Wait for the process to complete.
Verify the Connection
To verify that Google Analytics is receiving data, visit your website by opening a new browser tab. Return to Google Analytics and find the "Realtime" section on the left sidebar. If you see active users, the integration is successful. This confirms that Google Analytics is connected to your Webflow site correctly.
Explore Google Analytics
With Google Analytics now integrated with your Webflow site, spend some time exploring various reports and metrics available. The "Dashboard" provides a high-level view of user activity. The "Audience" section offers insights into the users visiting your site, including their demographics and geographical locations. The "Behavior" reports help you understand how users navigate through your site.
By following these steps, you can start making data-driven decisions to improve your site’s effectiveness and enhance your online presence for better user experience and business success.
