Log into your Webflow account by opening your web browser and navigating to the Webflow website. Enter your credentials to access your dashboard, where all your projects are listed.
Find the project you want to duplicate or back up. Click on the project's name or thumbnail to open it in the designer interface.
To duplicate a project, go to your project dashboard and click the settings gear icon in the top-right corner. On the project settings page, scroll down to the Duplicate Project button and click it. A confirmation prompt will appear; confirm to proceed. This action creates an exact copy of your project, including pages, assets, styles, and interactions. Once duplicated, you will see the new project on your dashboard, usually named similarly to your original project with "Copy" or a numerical designation.
For backing up a project, Webflow does not offer a direct download feature. Instead, you can manually back up your work:
- Open the asset panel in the designer for your project and download images, videos, or other assets by clicking each file and selecting the download option.
- Back up text content and structures by creating a document in Google Docs or Word. List out your website text, styles, and structures.
- Back up any custom code snippets by copying them into a separate document or a note in your preferred cloud service.
To ensure your work remains secure, make backing up a regular practice. Duplicate projects before making significant changes or updates. Keep your assets, content, and custom code regularly backed up, especially before implementing new features.
By following these steps, you can maintain the integrity of your Webflow projects, focus on creativity, and ensure your work is safe from loss. Regular backups allow you to experiment and preserve past versions with peace of mind.
