How to Add Open Graph Tags in Webflow

March 3, 2024

To add Open Graph tags to your Webflow project, start by logging into your account and navigating to the specific project you want to edit. Once you're in the project dashboard, open the page or template you wish to customize.

First, access the page settings by clicking on the Pages icon on the left side of the Webflow Designer. Find the page you want to edit, hover over it, and click on the settings icon, which looks like a gear. This action opens the page settings panel.

Next, scroll to the SEO Settings section within the page settings panel. This section allows you to add custom meta tags, including Open Graph tags, to control how your content appears on social media platforms.

In the SEO settings, focus on the fields for Open Graph:

- For Open Graph Title, enter a compelling title in the Og Title field. This title will be displayed when your page is shared on social media.

- In the Open Graph Description field, write a concise summary of your page content that encourages users to click.

- Upload an appealing image in the Open Graph Image field. This image should have a size of 1200 x 630 pixels to display properly on social media.

- The Open Graph URL is typically auto-filled with your page URL, but ensure it reflects the correct link.

After adding the desired content to the Open Graph fields, save your changes by clicking the Save or Publish button at the top right of the settings panel.

To verify how your Open Graph tags will look on social media, use tools such as the Facebook Sharing Debugger or Twitter Card Validator. Enter your page URL into these tools to preview your shared content's appearance. This step ensures your tags are correctly implemented.

If your website contains multiple pages, replicate this process for each page. Customize the Open Graph tags individually to align with each page's content for consistent and engaging social media sharing.

Finally, once you have added the Open Graph tags to all relevant pages, publish your site to push the updates live. Click the Publish button in the top right corner of the Webflow Designer to complete the process.

By following these steps to add Open Graph tags, you enhance your website's visibility and engagement on social media platforms, boosting traffic to your site.
