Step 1: Open Your Webflow Project
Log into your Webflow account and open the project containing the form you want to customize. Go to the Designer view to start editing.
Step 2: Locate Your Form
Find the form you want to modify on your page. Use the Navigator pane on the left to help locate the specific form quickly.
Step 3: Select the Form Field
Click on the particular form field where you want a custom placeholder. This could be any field such as a text input or an email input. Once selected, its settings will appear in the Style panel on the right.
Step 4: Access Field Settings
Go to the Settings panel, represented by a gear icon. Within these settings, look for an option titled Placeholder or Placeholder Text.
Step 5: Customize the Placeholder Text
Enter your desired placeholder text in the Placeholder section. This text should indicate what information the user should enter. For example, for an email field, use something like example@domain.com.
Step 6: Style the Placeholder (Optional)
If you want the placeholder text to match your website’s design, head to the Style panel and adjust the Typography settings. You can change the font size, color, and style of the placeholder to fit your site’s aesthetics.
Step 7: Test the Form
Switch to Preview mode by clicking the eye icon at the top left corner of the Designer. Interact with the form to ensure the placeholder text appears correctly when the field is empty.
Step 8: Publish Your Changes
After confirming that everything looks good, save and publish your changes. Click the Publish button at the top right corner of the Designer to make the updated form live on your site.
By following these steps, you can enhance your Webflow forms with custom placeholders, improving user guidance and the overall completion rate of your forms. Ensure your placeholder text is concise and aligns with your brand’s messaging for the best results.
