Before you start the handover process, take some time to get to know Webflow’s new client features. These enhancements include:
- An improved client dashboard that serves as a centralized location where clients can manage their website settings, updates, and content without needing heavy technical skills.
- Enhanced editor capabilities, allowing clients to edit text, images, and other elements directly on the live site through a more intuitive interface.
- Tutorial and help center access with built-in resources and articles that guide clients through various processes, ensuring they have support when necessary.
- Customizable user permissions, where you can grant your clients different levels of access, enabling them to control specific areas of their website.
After you're familiar with these features, move to setting up the client dashboard. Here’s how you can do this:
1. Log in to your Webflow account and navigate to the project you're working on.
2. Click on the Settings tab in the dashboard.
3. Select the Team or Client section where you can invite your clients.
4. Add your client's email address and choose the appropriate permission level based on their needs, such as Editor or Designer.
5. Send the invitation. Your clients will receive an email to join the project.
Once your clients have joined the project, guide them through using the enhanced editor features:
1. Instruct them to log in to their account and access the project via the client dashboard.
2. Demonstrate how to enter the Editor mode by clicking the Edit Site button on the top right corner of the live site.
3. Show them how to click on elements to edit text or replace images. Explain how changes reflect in real-time for easier visualization.
4. Encourage them to experiment with the available options, highlighting the benefit of instant feedback.
Even though the interface is intuitive, your clients might still have questions, so providing support is crucial:
1. Direct your clients to the built-in tutorial and help resources in the client dashboard.
2. Offer a short training session to walk them through key features like adding blog posts, updating content, or modifying site settings.
3. Make yourself available for follow-up questions via email or scheduled check-ins to ensure they feel confident in using their new site.
As your clients get comfortable with the platform, you might want to adjust their access:
1. Revisit the Settings tab and navigate to the Team or Client section again.
2. Consider allowing additional permissions as clients become more familiar with the platform. For instance, if they want to add custom code, you might grant Designer level access.
3. Discuss future website updates and establish a workflow for collaboration to maintain the site post-launch. This can include scheduled meetings or shared documentation to ensure clear communication and enhance your partnership.
These new Webflow features empower both designers and clients, providing robust tools for creating effective websites and simplifying the handover process. By following these steps, you can offer a seamless experience that builds your client's confidence and ensures successful collaboration. Embrace these tools to boost your client's capabilities and enhance your design practice.
