Configuring Shipping and Taxes in Webflow Ecommerce

October 8, 2024

To set up shipping and taxes in your Webflow Ecommerce project, start by logging into your Webflow account. Select the project you want to configure and open the Ecommerce settings by clicking on "Ecommerce" in the left sidebar.

For shipping setup, navigate to the "Shipping" tab. To add a new shipping method, click on "Add Shipping Method." You'll have options like flat rate (fixed cost for shipping), free shipping (potentially with a minimum order value), weight-based shipping (cost depends on cart weight), and carrier-calculated shipping (based on customer location and carrier rates). Configure the shipping rates based on the chosen method. For example, with flat rate shipping, just enter the fixed amount you plan to charge. For weight-based, set price ranges for different weight intervals, and for carrier-calculated, choose carriers like UPS or USPS and ensure store dimensions and weight settings are correct.

Next, decide on the regions where you'll offer shipping. You can opt for domestic, international, or both. Click "Add Region" to specify these areas, adjusting shipping rates accordingly for each one. Remember to save all changes once your shipping methods and regions are set, and review your configurations for accuracy.

For tax setup, go to the "Taxes" tab within the Ecommerce settings. Webflow can automatically handle tax calculations based on your store's location, but you might need additional customization. Understand your region’s tax rules because they vary, and decide which products or categories will be taxed.

To add tax settings, select "Add Tax." Input the appropriate tax rate for each region, ensuring they align with local regulations. Specify if taxes should be added on top of retail prices or if they’re already included. Make sure your tax zones align with your shipping regions. If some products fall into different tax categories, create these separately.

Finally, save your tax configurations. Test your setup by going through the checkout process to ensure shipping and taxes are calculated correctly, providing a transparent experience for your customers. Frequently review these settings as your business evolves or if there are changes in tax laws, ensuring consistent accuracy.
